About Our Practice

While many Pain Management Programs focus on teaching people to “live with” their pain, the A & A Pain Institute strives to accurately diagnose, then treat the cause of pain as well. A Psychologist, dentist, and many other specialties may contribute to a “team approach.”

Treatment begins with a comprehensive physical examination focusing on neurological, musculoskeletal and postural factors. Once the diagnosis is made, an individualized treatment plan is designed and planned with the patient. Multiple treatment options may be considered for the initial plan. Various analgesics and ‘adjunctive’ agents, may be prescribed. Many drugs may reduce pain, despite general classifications as anticonvulsants, antidepressants, NSAIDS, or muscle relaxants. Physical Therapy is prescribed for the patients’ specific injury and movement imbalances.

A variety of interventions may be used in the office, if appropriate for the patient’s problem. The A & A Pain Institute offers multiple treatments including:

  • Trigger Point Injections
  • Joint Injection
  • Various Nerve Blocks
  • Epidural Steroid Injections
  • Selective Nerve Root injections
  • Botox-type injections for pain
  • Peripheral Nerve Block
  • Facet Blocks
  • Rhizotomies
  • Implantation of various Nerve Stimulators
  • Implantation of Medication Infusion Pump

The A & A Pain Institute may use a multidisciplinary approach to aggressively treat multiple types of pain syndromes. Experience gained through clinical research and nationally recognized lectures enhances the care and treatment delivered at the A & A Pain Institute.
